Greetings,
Last Sunday, I had another chat with
of . This time, Alvin brought in a guest for a three-way conversation. Fiona Tan is an architect who studied in Berkeley, California. Our topic for this episode is the value of university education abroad for Indonesians. Each of us had studied in different parts of the Western world. Alvin in Australia (Melbourne), me in the East Coast of the United States (New Jersey and Maryland), and Fiona in the West Coast.I’ve uploaded the video to YouTube, which I linked to this post below. Enjoy:
The debate surrounding the value of higher education is one that I have heard a lot. But I have never really considered looking at it from the perspective of Indonesians looking to study abroad until Alvin brought the topic to me. Ironic.
Regardless, I hope you find value in this conversation. The decay of Academia in the Western world is a well-known phenomenon, and one that had been talked about at length. This little chat should provide a glimpse of those who were on the outside looking in.
Until next time, Michael P. Marpaung
