At this point, I’m sure you might have heard the news of Pope Francis’ passing. What is there for me to say about it?
Well, I did not know the late Pope Francis personally. Even so, I consider the Holy Father to be a an important figure in my life. For one thing, I was received into the Catholic Church during Francis’ pontificate. That has to mean something. Not in a superstitious astrology kind of way. I mean that God doesn’t just do things for no reason. Not that I can even begin to figure out the reason.
Also, not even a year before he died, he went on an “Apostolic Journey” throughout Southeast Asia (and Papua New Guinea). I hope to always remember his Apostolic Journey to Indonesia which everyone here in Jakarta seems to be fond of. It was a fun time, and it prompted me to write a post that I still consider to be one of my finest:
Pope Francis' Visit to Indonesia
The Apostolic Journey to Indonesia from the perspective of a man on the street.
But as for the Pope himself? He is now in the afterlife, where only God can judge. Catholic YouTuber David L. Gray put it best:
Until next time.
