Yup. As someone who only paid attention to basketball after Jordan's retirement, it's clear that the dude is just a cultural phenomenon. I never thought I'd see basketball fans and analysts counter-signaling him and the era he played in until I actually see it. Thankfully, such things do receive the pushback that they deserve.
The Jordan era NBA was followed all over the world, was exciting and dramatic and had a host of great characters and players.

Thanks for introducing me to a very useful term - "recency bias". I'd never heard it before and yet we are saturated with it.
